ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,576,405, issued on March 17, was assigned to Canon Virginia Inc. (Newport News, Va.).

"Methods and systems for thermal cycling" was invented by Maxwell Hensley (Williamsburg, Va.) and Yoichi Murakami (Tokyo).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure relates to methods, devices and systems for thermal cycling of a microfluidic cartridge comprising a transparent heat sink and/or a flexible thermal spreader to seal one or more channels on the microfluidic cartridge."

The patent was filed on Oct. 26, 2021, under Application No. 17/511,283.
