ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,754,399, issued on Oct. 6, was assigned to CANON K.K. (Tokyo).

"Imaging optical system and image pickup apparatus having the same" was invented by Takashi Okada (Saitama, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An imaging optical system includes an imaging lens, and an optical element disposed on an image side of the imaging lens. At least one surface of the optical element is a diffractive surface with a controlled wavelength dispersion characteristic. Predetermined inequalities are satisfied."
