ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,559,010, issued on Feb. 24, was assigned to Bose Corp. (Framingham, Mass.).

"Headrest speaker with over-molded acoustic channel" was invented by Robert James Knox Jr. (Northborough, Mass.) and Bradford Kyle Subat (Northborough, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Various implementations include headrest speakers and approaches for forming such headrest speakers. In certain implementations, a headrest speaker includes: an acoustic channel; a three-dimensional (3D) acoustically transparent mesh in the acoustic channel; and a foam retaining the acoustically transparent mesh in the acoustic channel."
