ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,627,199, issued on May 12, was assigned to BorgWarner Inc. (Auburn Hills, Mich.).
"Rotor balance ring and oil flinger" was invented by Kurtis Erron Henderson (Candler, N.C.) and Michael Sean Ward (Etowah, N.C.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A turbocharger includes a rotor rotatably mounted within the turbocharger about a rotor axis, a balance ring provided at an axial end of the rotor, and a cutout provided in the balance ring, the cutout having an open end extending radially outward from the rotor axis."
The patent was filed on Nov. 25, 2019, under Application No. 16/694,658.
