ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,584,110, issued on March 24, was assigned to BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY AND AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL COLLEGE (Baton Rouge, La.).

"Functional feline pancreatic cells from adipose tissue" was invented by Mandi J. Lopez (St. Gabriel, La.) and Wei Duan (Baton Rouge, La.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compositions and methods are described herein for transdifferentiation of multipotent stromal cells into cells that can express insulin."
