ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,633, issued on April 14, was assigned to Board of Regents, the University of Texas System (Austin, Texas).

"Nanostructured carbons and methods of preparing the same" was invented by Kenneth J. Balkus Jr. (The Colony, Texas) and Alexander T. Brown (Colorado Springs, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The inventive concept described herein relates to nanostructured carbons having improved characteristics, and method of preparing the same."

The patent was filed on Sept. 11, 2020, under Application No. 17/018,316.
