ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,691,498, issued on July 28, was assigned to BLZ Bayerisches Laserzentrum Gemeinnutzige Forschungsgesellschaft mbH (Erlangen, Germany) and Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg (Erlangen, Germany).

"Method and apparatus for additive manufacturing of a component, and component manufactured in accordance with the method" was invented by Sebastian-Paul Kopp (Furth, Germany), Bjorn Dusenberg (Herzogenaurach, Germany), Andreas Buck (Gommern, Germany) and Michael Schmidt (Erlangen, Germany).
