US Patent Issued to Bluescope Steel on Sept. 29 for "Metal-coated steel strip" (Australian Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,747,489, issued on Sept. 29, was assigned to Bluescope Steel Ltd. (Melbourne, Australia).

"Metal-coated steel strip" was invented by Qiyang Liu (Mount Keira, Australia), Wayne Renshaw (Unanderra, Australia) and Joe Williams (Woonona, Australia).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An Al-Zn-Si-Mg alloy coated strip that has Mg2Si particles in the coating microstructure is disclosed. The distribution of Mg2Si particles is such that the surface of the coating has only a small proportion of Mg2Si particles or is at least substantially free of any Mg2Si particles."

The patent was filed on Nov. 13, 2024, under Application No. 18/946,543.
