ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,576,487, issued on March 17, was assigned to Black & Decker Inc. (New Britain, Conn.).

"Power tool" was invented by Kristen E. Miller (Baltimore), Kevin M. Alston (Baltimore) and Benjamin J. Wulker (Westerville, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A screwdriver including an output member, a motor configured to selectively drive the output member, a battery and an actuation collar. The actuation collar is movable in a forward direction towards the output member to actuate the screwdriver."
