US Patent Issued to BioMetis Technology on Sept. 15 for "Enzymatic degradation of polyethylene terephthalate" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,735,686, issued on Sept. 15, was assigned to BioMetis Technology Inc. (Redwood City, Calif.).

"Enzymatic degradation of polyethylene terephthalate" was invented by Jie Yang (Foster City, Calif.), Xiyun Zhang (San Ramon, Calif.), Khin Oo (Daly City, Calif.) and Goutami Banerjee (Daly City, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure provides variant enzymes for use in the enzymatic degradation of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)."

The patent was filed on Aug. 11, 2022, under Application No. 18/682,722.
