ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,730,117, issued on Sept. 8, was assigned to Beckman Coulter Inc. (Brea, Calif.).

"Sample preparation" was invented by Juan Fernandez de Castro (Miami), Brahim Sahdala (Miami) and Rajani Ravilisetty (Miami).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sample preparation instrument for dispensing processed samples into output tubes is described. The instrument scans specimen-panel assignment barcodes. The instrument associates the output tubes with a panel selected for a specimen. The instrument operates a transfer station to dispense processed samples from the specimen into the output tubes based on the association of the output tubes with the panel."...
