US Patent Issued to Ball Horticultural on May 26 for "Phlox plant named 'Balpetawhi'" (Dutch Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. PP37,441, issued on May 26, was assigned to Ball Horticultural Co. (West Chicago, Ill.).

"Phlox plant named 'Balpetawhi'" was invented by Christa Kievit (Vessem, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Phlox plant named 'Balpetawhi', characterized by its very light purple to white flowers with a dark purple center, medium, green-colored foliage, and vigorous, spreading growth habit, is disclosed."

The patent was filed on Sept. 10, 2025, under Application No. 19/325,115.
