ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 26 -- United States Patent no. PP37,446, issued on May 26, was assigned to Ball Horticultural Co. (West Chicago, Ill.).

"Monarda plant named 'Balbeempur'" was invented by Scott Trees (Arroyo Grande, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Monarda plant named 'Balbeempur', characterized by its dark reddish-purple inflorescences, dark, green-colored foliage, good powdery mildew resistance, and moderately vigorous, upright growth habit, is disclosed."

The patent was filed on Oct. 3, 2025, under Application No. 19/349,349.
