US Patent Issued to Ball Horticultural on April 14 for "Phlox plant named 'Balcloudlav'" (Dutch Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. PP37,370, issued on April 14, was assigned to Ball Horticultural Co. (West Chicago, Ill.).

"Phlox plant named 'Balcloudlav'" was invented by Christa Kievit (Vessem, Netherlands).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Phlox plant named 'Balcloudlav', characterized by its light, purple-colored flowers with a purple center, medium, green-colored foliage, and moderately vigorous, mounded growth habit, is disclosed."

The patent was filed on July 30, 2025, under Application No. 19/285,623.
