US Patent Issued to Axogen on March 17 for "Nerve grafts containing regenerative compounds, methods of making the same, and methods of treatment using the same" (Florida Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,576,189, issued on March 17, was assigned to Axogen Corp. (Alachua, Fla.).

"Nerve grafts containing regenerative compounds, methods of making the same, and methods of treatment using the same" was invented by Kasra Tajdaran (Alachua, Fla.) and Angelo Scopelianos (Alachua, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of preparing a nerve graft includes submerging a nerve graft in a solution including FK506 and a solvent to promote incorporation of FK506 into the nerve graft. A tissue graft includes nerve tissue and FK506 incorporated within the nerve tissue. In the tissue graft, the FK506 is free of hydrogel and not encapsulated."
