ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,546,099, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc. (New Haven, Conn.).

"Spout diverter" was invented by Oscar Romero (Laguna Woods, Calif.), Haibo Cai (Xiamen, China), Jianfei Zheng (Xiamen, China) and Paulo Pajuelo (Lake Forest, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A spout diverter includes a diverter housing and an actuator that extends into the diverter housing. A stem is engaged by the actuator to slide longitudinally to block and divert a water flow when the actuator is pushed into the diverter housing."

The patent was filed on May 24, 2022, under Application No. 18/562,892.
