ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,619,025, issued on May 5, was assigned to Arizona Board of Regents on behalf of Arizona State University (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

"Side-emitting optical fibers with surface modification" was invented by Paul K. Westerhoff (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Zhe Zhao (Tempe, Ariz.) and Nora Shapiro (Tempe, Ariz.).
