ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,671,111, issued on June 30, was assigned to Apple Inc. (Cupertino, Calif.).

"Electrolyte for lithium ion batteries" was invented by Hongli Dai (Los Altos, Calif.), Libo Hu (Mountain View, Calif.), Paul M. Bayley (Santa Clara, Calif.), Zhengcheng Zhang (Naperville, Ill.), Khalil Amine (Oak Brook, Ill.), Qian Liu (Darien, Ill.) and Mingfu He (Palos Park, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This disclosure relates generally to battery cells, and more particularly, electrolyte additives for use in lithium ion battery cells."

The patent was filed on June 2, 2022, under Application No. 17/830,964.
