US Patent Issued to Amgen on Sept. 8 for "Engineered NRG-1 variants with improved selectivity toward ErbB4 but not against ErbB3" (California, Washington Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,729,229, issued on Sept. 8, was assigned to Amgen Inc. (Thousand Oaks, Calif.).

"Engineered NRG-1 variants with improved selectivity toward ErbB4 but not against ErbB3" was invented by Darren L. Bates (Oak Park, Calif.), Zhi Liu (Shoreline, Wash.), TaeWeon Lee (Palo Alto, Calif.), Mark L. Michaels (Encino, Calif.) and Zhulun Wang (Palo Alto, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to engineered neuregulin-1 variants that selectively activate ErbB4 receptors but do not activate ErbB3 receptors. The invention also provides methods for using such variants to treat heart failure."
