US Patent Issued to Amazon Technologies on July 14 for "Accelerated transfer learning" (Washington, California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,682,282, issued on July 14, was assigned to Amazon Technologies Inc. (Seattle).

"Accelerated transfer learning" was invented by Vignesh Ganapathiraman (Bothell, Wash.) and Anila Joshi (Los Gatos, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Techniques for updating a model are described. An example includes determining a proper subset of weights of a first trained machine learning (ML) model to change during an optimization procedure; updating only the proper subset of weights of a second ML model on a first source dataset to generate an optimized ML model; and storing the optimized ML model."
