ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,616,243, issued on May 5, was assigned to Altria Client Services LLC (Richmond, Va.).

"E-vaping cartridge" was invented by Ali A. Rostami (Glen Allen, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The cartridge includes a housing, an air passage through at least a portion of the housing, a reservoir, the reservoir defining a cavity that is configured to store a pre-vapor formulation, a distal end of the reservoir defining a vent hole, a wick in communication with the air passage and the cavity, and a heater configured to vaporize the pre-vapor formulation in the wick."
