US Patent Issued to Altria Client Services on July 14 for "Smoking article" (Virginia Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,677,868, issued on July 14, was assigned to Altria Client Services LLC (Richmond, Va.).

"Smoking article" was invented by Munmaya K. Mishra (Manakin Sabot, Va.) and Shaoyong Yu (Glen Allen, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A smoking article has a burn portion and a mouth portion. The burn portion includes a smoking rod filled with a smokeable filler material formed almost exclusively of cellulose material. The mouth portion includes either a filter portion with or without an interface or a tip with an interface. The mouth end may include an orthonasal property and the interface may store an additive."
