ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,698,365, issued on Aug. 4, was assigned to AGRANA Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft (Vienna).
"Thermoplastic starch" was invented by Barbara Fahrngruber (Pottenbrunn, Austria), Marnik Michel Wastyn (Schwechat, Austria) and Martin Kozich (Vienna).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described is a method for producing a thermoplastic starch, wherein a mixture is extruded comprising starch and a polyol, preferably selected from the group comprising polyethylene glycol, monosaccharides, sugar alcohols and mixtures thereof, in a quantity of 0 to 9.9 wt. % of the mixture, and an epoxide, selected from the group comprising epoxidised vegetable oils, and...
