ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,594,167, issued on April 7, was assigned to Aesculap AG (Tuttlingen, Germany) and IHI Ionbond AG (Zurich).
"Hip implant system" was invented by Christian Bader (Huefingen, Germany), Janine Fechter (Haigerloch, Germany) and Jens Schneider (Radolfzell, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A hip implant system includes an artificial acetabular cup and an artificial acetabular liner. The liner includes or consists of a metal or an alloy, and is coated at least in sections with a ceramic coating."
