US Patent Issued to Advanced Drainage Systems on June 2 for "Universal coupling" (Ohio Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,644,545, issued on June 2, was assigned to Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (Hilliard, Ohio).

"Universal coupling" was invented by Evan Joseph Geno (Malinta, Ohio) and Matthew Huizenga (Dublin, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coupling configured to connect a first pipe to a plurality of pipes comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the second end is tapered and comprises a plurality of lateral ribs and a plurality of longitudinal ribs, wherein each of the plurality of longitudinal ribs comprises a pliable and wedge-like shape, and each of the plurality of longitudinal ribs tapers toward the second end."
