ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,688,609, issued on July 21, was assigned to 3SHAPE A/S (Kobenhavn K, Denmark).

"Scanning system and calibration thereof" was invented by Anders Gaarde (Soborg, Denmark) and Johan Teichert Bondorf (Copenhagen, Denmark).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a non-calibrated scanning system to be modified to a calibrated scanning system based on generating a three-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional calibration-object."
