"Privacy system for electronic door locks" was invented by Peter L. Levy (San Francisco).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Current privacy notices on door are inadequate for electronic door locks. An electronic door lock "do not disturb" privacy device is presented."
