"Parallelogram jack plate" was invented by Mark Pelini (Valrico, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There are four rigid mounts. There are a plurality of bushings having helical fluting there in. There is a upper plate, a motor mount plate and a lower plate which coupled to an existing hull, form a parallelogram which is moved by a hydraulic cylinder. There is a sacrificial anode coupled to the lower plate. The top cap has at least one snap ring and at least one o-ring and is permanently fixed within the hydraulic cylinder interior surface once it is inserted into the hydraulic cylinder."
