ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,623,760, issued on May 12.

"Recreational diving buoy and safety system" was invented by Christopher Price (Santa Rita, Guam), Lee Shannon (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Paul Leary (Salinas, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A diving safety system comprising a floatation buoy acting as a diving line spool, a slip ring within the buoy containing components of a wired and/or wireless electrical communication system allowing an underwater diver to communicate with a boat or shore-based persons, with a method of use."

The patent was filed on Oct. 29, 2021, under Application No. 18/035,679.
