"Gymnastic ring and training system" was invented by Benedikt Freiherr Taets von Amerongen (Dresden, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A gymnastic ring and a training system which can be used in a variety of body weight exercises for fitness and strength training in addition to ring gymnastics. The gymnastic ring includes a torus shaped ring body and a belt holder for mounting a belt. The belt holder can be fitted within the ring body in a form-fitting manner.
