"Plastic-eating patch/label" was invented by William J Birgen (Tempe, Ariz.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "This invention is a laminate patch, label or packaging material which contains plastic eating elements, which can clean up polluted sites with plastic waste and can reduce the footprint of plastic in landfills. This invention containing plastic eating elements, can be deployed as a printed label, or a consumer product added to trash bags, or integrated into a product or its packaging."
The patent was filed on Nov. 8, 2023, under Application No. 18/504,965.
