According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A paintbrush cover is constructed of an elastic material and has a deformable inlet and outlet that a paintbrush can be inserted and withdrawn from respectively. The paintbrush may be withdrawn in the same direction that it was inserted, such that the bristles are never forced to bend against the cover.
