According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cradle system for a rewinder machine shapes a rolling surface for a core and includes at least two portions arranged to define the rolling surface. The at least two portions are each movable in a predetermined position so as to vary the profile of the rolling surface and/or the length of the rolling surface as a function of their assumed positions."
