According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Lightweight braced footwear systems configured to conceal deformity, injury or paralysis in the foot of a wearer may include footwear having a footwear body. A footwear sole may be provided on the footwear body. At least one footwear brace may be provided in the footwear sole. The footwear brace may be discreetly concealed in the footwear sole. The footwear brace may impart support to a deformed, injured or paralyzed foot."
