US Patent Issued on July 7 for "Using a strong optical beam to detect a weak optical beam" (California Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,674,703, issued on July 7.

"Using a strong optical beam to detect a weak optical beam" was invented by Chian Chiu Li (Fremont, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and apparatus for detecting weak beams and single photons. A reference beam interferes with a weak beam to generate an output beam. Characteristics such as propagation direction of the output beam are used to detect the weak beam. The methods further include using an array of reference beams to detect an image formed by weak beams."

The patent was filed on Sept. 18, 2024, under Application No. 18/889,320.
