ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,672,947, issued on July 7.

"Prosthetic surgical sling" was invented by Rebecca U. Ruefer (Bozeman, Mont.) and Beda B. G. Ruefer (Bozeman, Mont.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a process of making an expanded fluoropolymer, e.g., PTFE, article is disclosed. The article is formed from a PTFE resin, calendered, and then expanded (e.g., uniaxially, multiaxially, etc.) at an elevated temperature. After cooling, the article is used to form a surgically implanted device, e.g., a surgical prosthetic sling."

The patent was filed on Jan. 20, 2022, under Application No. 17/580,434.
