"Extended reality interface" was invented by Neil Nelson (Providence, R.I.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An extended reality interface controller including a controller including a body formed by a frame; the frame having a first main body section and second main body section substantially bisecting the frame and a cap section spanning over the first main body section and second main body section; multidirectional switches operatively coupled to the frame; internal electronics housed within the frame; and a processor operatively coupled to the multidirectional switches."
