According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sound conditioning device. The device includes a shield comprising an elongated plate having a front face and a rear face. A fastener is coupled to the rear face of the shield, where the fastener is adapted to detachably couple to a boom of a headset having a voice microphone. A sound conditioning material is coupled to the rear face, wherein the conditioning material overlays the voice microphone to encapsulate the voice microphone and suppress ambient sound detected by the microphone."
