"Mass-interconnect engaging device" was invented by Jeffery P. Stowers (Mt. Sidney, Va.) and Benjamin T. Ailinger (Harrisonburg, Va.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An engaging device of a Mass-Interconnect includes an interchangeable test adapter (ITA) and a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism includes an actuator, a flexible latch overlaying the actuator, a sleeve encompassing the flexible latch, and an over-dead-center (ODC) link connected to the actuator. The locking mechanism is configured to engage and disengage from the ITA."
