According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "According to aspects of the present disclosure, a seat of an exercise bench may be repositioned (e.g., raised and rotated) to function as an elbow or arm rest for various weightlifting exercises (referred to as the "deployed position"). The repositioning of the seat (or arm rest) is achieved with a pivot stopping mechanism that securely limit the desired reposition angle and location during adjustment."
