ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. PP37,271, issued on Feb. 17.
"Ulmus tree named 'UCMTF'" was invented by Dwayne Moon (Washington, Ga.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Ulmus crassifolia tree named 'UCMTF' is disclosed, characterized by distinctive red emerging foliage, turning dark green with maturity. New growth is uniquely greyed-purple. The canopy of the tree is upright and narrow. The new variety is a Ulmus tree, typically used for landscapes and gardens."
The patent was filed on March 19, 2025, under Application No. 19/083,845.
