ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,552,495, issued on Feb. 17.

"Modular hydrofoil system for watercraft" was invented by Robert Martin Johnston (Hood River, Ore.), Gabriel Verrier-Paquette (Hood River, Ore.) and Tony Logosz (Hood River, Ore.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A hydrofoil system for a hydrofoil equipped watercraft with cooperating fuselage portion that have tapered sections. The tapered sections are configured to form an overlapping stacked wedge within an inner passageway of a collar so that the collar frictionally engages the stacked tapered sections when the first fuselage portion and the second fuselage portion are drawn together longitudinally."
