ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,551,773, issued on Feb. 17.
"Boxing glove" was invented by Jefferey Crawford (Huntington Beach, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention discloses an improved boxing glove that positions the thumb away from the striking surface of the glove and moves it to a more natural first position across the front of at least a portion of the middle phalanx of the index finger."
The patent was filed on Nov. 15, 2024, under Application No. 18/949,352.
