"Modular roller coaster" was invented by Luke Horwath (Barrington, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A roller coaster that includes a first tower module, a second tower module, a first track defining a first layout spanning at least a portion of the first tower module, and a second track defining a second layout spanning at least a portion of the second tower module. At least a portion of the first layout and at least a portion of the second layout have a helical shape."
The patent was filed on Sept. 2, 2025, under Application No. 19/316,721.
