"Clip-on light assembly" was invented by Brian Petschke (Apache Junction, Ariz.) and Zakary King (Westland, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A clip-on light assembly to clip onto a tool, the clip-on light assembly including a clip main body to clip onto the tool, and a light main body attached to the clip main body, the light main body including a light disposed at a front end portion of the light main body, and a power button disposed on the light main body to power-on the light such that a beam of light is emitted from the light."
