ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,930, issued on April 14.

"Process for aging distilled spirits" was invented by Jeremy Norris (Benson, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a process for producing distilled spirits. After fermentation and distillation, the freshly distilled spirits are placed in wooden barrels and subjected to an initial aging process. Thereafter, the wooden barrels are placed in a tobacco curing and drying barn and aged therein for a selected period of time."

The patent was filed on June 2, 2021, under Application No. 17/336,578.
