Scottish traditional music gets an energetic and unexpected makeover when Cantrip comes to Hodgson Concert Hall at the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The performance is part of the UGA Presents 2026-27 season.
Named for an Old Scots word meaning a charm, magic spell or piece of mischief, Cantrip brings together the driving rhythms of traditional Scottish music with influences ranging from funk and metal to bluegrass, swing and klezmer. The result is a sound built around swirling border pipes, fiery fiddles, distinctive guitar and rich vocal harmonies.
