U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Chair of the Subcommittee on Homeland Security Appropriations, recently directly secured $900,000 for the Winston County Commission in the Fiscal Year (FY) 26 Homeland Security Appropriations Act. This funding will support the replacement of a key drainage structure on County Road 54 at Quarter Creek north of Haleyville that collapsed during a flood in 2022 and has closed the road for over four years.

This funding will be used to replace a drainage structure which failed in 2022 when two 15-feet diameter pipes collapsed due to flooding from excessive rainfall. Replacement and refurbishment of the bridge and structure is imperativ...
