NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 20 -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the following news release:
At the request of 14th Judicial District Attorney General Craig Northcott, TBI special agents are investigating the circumstances that led to an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning in Beech Grove.
Preliminary information indicates that just after 5:30 AM, deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 500 block of Maple Drive to conduct a welfare check. When deputies arrived on scene, they encountered an individual who was armed. For reasons still under investigation, a deputy and the individual fired their weapons.
