NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 21 -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the following news release:
At the request of 11th Judicial District Attorney General Coty Wamp, TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday evening in Chattanooga.
Preliminary information indicates that just before 7:00 p.m., officers with the Chattanooga Police Department responded to the 1400 block of E 17th Street in reference to an armed individual threatening to harm himself. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the man and attempted to negotiate with him.
